My dear Sir

You are perfectly free to make public use of my letter to you about Bishop Colenso, but I should like to add a P.S.

‘Some 5 or 6 months ago, when some clergyman (I forget who) asked me to support a mission to Zululand, I said I would do so on condition he stated publicly that I honoured Bishop Colenso for his brave words in defence of the natives, however much I disapproved of his heresies (as I think them).’

I should like this to be added, in order to show that my letter to you is not a new thought with me. Whether the clergyman ever did publish my views or not, I do not know.

Believe me

Yours sincerely

C.J. Abraham

Bp
