Dear Mr Chesson,

I was at the Colonial Office when your note came. The news you give me of Te Wheoro is much worse than I had dreamt of. Can I be of any use to him or to you? What is Mr Ashbury’s address at Brighton, so that I may write to Te Wheoro? My shipping office will do every thing about Te Wheoro’s passage, and we will help in any way we possibly can.

Believe me

F.D. Bell
