Sir

The Maoris named in your note have had a conversation with me, and I have heard from them the object of their coming to England. The questions they have spoken to me about have been familiar to me during many years, and they know what I think respecting their chances of impressing people in England with their views. I shall be glad to hear that they have been able to make these clear, as it is desirable there should not be a misunderstanding on the subject.

I have the honor to be

Yours faithfully

F.D. Bell
