Dear Sir,

I have to thank you for your letter. I shall be obliged by your kingly informing me when your deputation is to be received by the Colonial Secretary and I shall be glad if I can be present as I have the warmest feeling on the subject. I wrote to Colonel Stanley on the subject both of Bechuanaland and Zululand. I think from the line of the press everything seems to favour a right solution of these questions and I will be of vast advantage to S Africa and to your Aborigines cause.

I am

Yours faithfully

JE Carlyle
