My dear Mr Chesson,

Two days since I posted you in an unregistered letter, cuttings from the local press relative to the Metlakahtla affair which I hope you will have received. Herewith letter from Mr Wm Duncan himself, from Dr Hemeken, and from Senator Macdonald, together with a leading article which may be taken as expressing the view government in Victoria would wish the public to regard the translation.

As yet I have no news to give you of what may or may not have taken place at Metlakahtla itself the cable will however have overtaken this communication before you are able to see it.
