My Dear Sir

By this mail I send you a copy of our (Diocease?) Church Gazette, in which you will find and acknowledgement for the … that I received from … for two of our Maori clergy. At the same time I beg to thank you for your great kindness to three of our Maori people; who will I trust be permanently benefited by it. Those three men were a self appointed deputation, and in no way represented the Maori race or the Maori Church. Mnay of us were grieved to think that the race and the Church might be judged in England by such unfit representations. In any case, the (disinterested?) kindness of English friends will, we may hope, leave a lasting impression on their minds, and induce them to (show a little care?) for some of their own people.
