Dear Mr Chesson,

Mr Samuel Moroka has applied to me for an interview, but I am at a loss to imagine, how I can help him, in a matter, where the tribunal must be the law courts of the Orange Free State. I infer that in referring him to me you have hoped to gain information respecting him to me you have hoped to gain information respecting him, as he mentions that he was educated at St Augustine’s Coll. I have therefore written to Mr Jenkins to inquire.

The notice of the meeting was of no consequence. I dare say that I shld have added nothing to … if I had been able to be present.

I saw the reference to the meeting in the papers, and assumed that my notice had gone astray by some mistake.

Believe me…
