My Dear Mr Chesson,

I’m an officer under the Cape Colonial Govt in the native department. I should very much like to see you before my return to the Cape which is fixed for the 8th Feby, and if any time on Tuesday or Wednesday would suit you I would call on you Tuesday would be more convenient to me than Wednesday but fix whatever day would best suit you.

I have been for 36 years in the native department and am now chief magistrate in East Griqualand a dependency of the Cape Colony bordering on the Colony of Natal.

Truly yours

C. Brownlee
