My dear Sir,

In spite of their great grief, Rev Mr Mabille, left here two days after the death of their daughter, and on the 3 of this month, a telegram has brought us the news of their safe arrival at the Cape on the 2nd. Our friend must be now very near Basutoland and he will have seen all the principal members of the Cape government, as well as Sir Hercules Robinson. If any thing can effect a favourable turn of affairs among the natives it will be surely his arrival, for he enjoys universal respect and love. He is very quick and alert in correspondence, as you well know, and if we can do anything with some chance of success, he will soon give us notice of it.

Believe me always
Yours truly
E. Casalis
