Dear Mr Chesson,

I have heard this morning only that I will be in town at 40 Queen’s Road Bayswater for three days this week and I should so much like to have the Maori chiefs to dine with me, if you think that they would like it. I have written a letter which I enclose, will you kindly read it and see if you can make the arrangement for next Thursday at 2 o’clock. I should feel very … at having the chiefs… can you come and meet them, or is there any one who knows them and who would accompany them to my lodgings? I should be truly glad if you would let me have an answer here. I leave this place on Wednesday next after morning post.

Believe me to remain,
Sincerely yours,
Fanny Patteson
