Dear Sir
Your letter of 23rd July had been handed to me on my return from British Columbia, and in reply, I will write to my friend Senator Macdonald in Victoria, who has all along taken a keen interest in the case of the Metlakatla Indians, to send you the best newspaper in his opinion giving you a full account of the whole proceedings.
I will also write to a … John Gardner of the same city, to send you a report of the Chinese disturbances, which took place a few months ago in British Columbia. I met … Gardner, whilst in Victoria, and found he was well up on the Chinese question.
I am glad to hear that … H.S. Welcome is speaking with you on bringing the Metlakatla case before the public.
I shall be pleased to see you here any time you may find it convenient to call but it is well to send a postcard before hand to let me know.
Yours faithfully,
H.C. Becton
