Dear Sir,

I send you a copy by this post of my paper on ‘African Colonies and Colonization.’ I was unable from my limits to enter so fully as I had intended onto the Aborigines question but I think my views will harmonize with yours. If they do not, I shall be glad to hear your …, at least as regards the Boers and Bechuanaland pp 26-38. I think we are at one. I shall send a copy to the French gentlemen whose name you kindly gave me and whose information I have included in the notice of Algeria.

It is possible I may republish the paper in a more extended form. For the information you kindly have given me I feel much indebted. Your Aborigines Protection Society has an important place to hold all over the world. As regards this Canadian question which I do not understand so well. I fear there have been colonial aggressions and it is to be hoped that the rights of the native indian tribes will not be overlooked.

I am
Yours very truly
JE Carlyle
