Sir,
I am requested by my father to forward you the enclosed papers.
As the incident mentioned is being systematically misrepresented in Natal, I shall be most happy to supply with further information.
I may add that I accompanied my father to Amatongaland on his first expedition to that country and am well up in the whole question.
I am, Sir,
Your obedient servant

Sir,
I have the honor to enclose copies of letters addressed by me to their Excellencies the High Commissioners for South Africa and Zululand.
As the question with which they deal comes within the province of your society I … to hope that its powerful influence will be asserted, if not to obtain redress for the wrong done the chiefs by ‘Usibepu’, who is really a British subject, at any rate to obtain for these people the restoration of the children carried away.
I may add that I was well known to your predecessor Mr Chesson and amongst the papers of your society you would be able to find ample proof of my bona fides.
I have the honor to be,
Sir
Your obedient servant
William Jesser Coope
